What is the Carrying Capacity of the Volkswagen Transporter Van

The Volkswagen Transporter range of vehicles offers a variety of options, enabling drivers and businesses to customise their vans to suit their needs. One of the most important factors to consider is the carrying capacity of the van. Drivers have various requirements when it comes to their carrying loads and cargo, and they need a van that's capable of managing their needs. The latest Volkswagen Transporter panel van is the T6.1, which offers a choice of further options for drivers. In addition to a choice of engines and other technical components, drivers can ensure they get the right carrying capacity.

Range of Sizes

The Transporter is available in a range of sizes with different carrying capacities. The carrying capacity depends on the van model and the options available. Some models are available with a choice of T26, T28, T30 and T32. These correspond to their gross vehicle weight. For example, a T26 has a gross vehicle weight of 2.6 tonnes. Carrying capacities range from 749kg to 1,292kg.

  • T26 - 2.6T gross vehicle weight
  • T28 - 2.8T gross vehicle weight
  • T30 - 3.0T gross vehicle weight
  • T32 - 3.2T gross vehicle weight

The new Transporter panel van 6.1 offers two wheelbases and two roof sizes. This means the load volume ranges from 5.8 to 9.3m3, offering space for up to three Euro pallets. The higher roof models have a maximum load height of 1,940mm (1.94m) and the rear opening width is 1,473mm (1.47m). The T6.1 also benefits from various load security features, including half-height hardboard side panels, six or eight adjustable lashing eyes and optional metal rails on the side panels. Split locking functions on vans with a bulkhead keep the load and vehicle secure. A choice of rear door solutions offers a large tailgate or versatile rear wing doors. LED lighting improves visibility, and various storage options also help to keep the cab organised.

The T6.1 also includes a Trailer Assist feature, making it easier for drivers to add to their load and drive safely. Trailer Assist makes it easier for the driver to parallel park and reverse park, using the wing mirror switch and rear-view camera to manoeuvre the trailer when parking.

Others in the Transporter Range

In addition to the Transporter panel van, there are also the options of the Transporter shuttle, the Transporter kombi and the Transporter Sportline. The shuttle can transport up to nine passengers (including the driver), with a five to nine seat package. It has an optional electric tailgate for easier loading of luggage. The kombi has space for both people and cargo, with seating for up to six people and a choice of two roof heights and wheelbases. The Transporter Sportline offers a sporty option, available as a panel van or kombi. It has a gross vehicle weight of 3.2 tonnes.
