It’s Time to Crafter Up! New VW Van Variants Headed to the CV Show!

The Commercial Vehicle Show is unsurprisingly the nation’s premiere platform for all things commercial vehicles, spanning the length and breadth of the industry. From new technology displays, to manufacturer showcases, to aftermarket supplier stalls, the Birmingham NEC-based event is unmissable for anyone involved in commercial automotive and transport. This year, Volkswagen has announced a brand new Crafter and a new e-Up van variant will both debut at the CV Show in April.

The new Crafter is reportedly equipped with a huge range of updates, including its bespoke 2 litre TDI engine made specifically for this model. The engine will provide 101, 121 and 138hp via a single turbocharged unit, while a bi-turbo variant will kick out a cool 174hp. There’ll also be six and eight speed manual transition gearboxes to choose from, cosmetic tweaks and updates both inside and out and potentially more surprises as well.

The Volkswagen Up: e-Loaded

Meanwhile the ‘e-load Up!’ is a brand new compact electric van, based of course on the e-Up! electric city car platform. It’s 3.6m in length which may sound small, but with 990 litres of space and 360kg payload capacity, the e-load Up! will be the perfect city van for getting to and from those urban jobs economically. While there is currently no UK release date for the e-load Up! its appearance at the show is reportedly to scout out its viability in the market – so if an e-load Up sounds like the answer to a question you have, make sure you head along to the show and express an interest!
